Tokaido – souvenirs – scoring question

Hi all, I keep seeing people scoring 9 points or something similarly high for buying 3 souvenirs of different types. Why is this?
That is the rule.
1 + 3 + 5 = 9 points
First type of souvenirs = 1 pt
Second type of souvenirs (different from the first) = 3pts
Third type of souvenirs (different from first and second) = 5pts
Fourth type of souvenirs (different from first, second and third types) = 7pts
16 pts for one set of 4 differents types of souvenirs
And you can start more than one set.
