BGA crash December 11th

Hello everyone,

Last night, BGA crashed at 3:30 (Central European Time). It was totally unexpected, especially when you know that the number of players is low at this time of the day.

Unfortunately, we are still not 100% sure of the reason behind this crashe, and that's why it took so long to bring back BGA to life. We strongly suspect the "newsfeeds" (messages board + comments) to be the reason of the crash, and this is why they have been disabled for now.

BGA has been very stable in 2017 with very few incidents, but from October we unfortunately had 3 interruption of service for 3 distinct and unrelated causes :(

We expect to restore the service at 100% as soon as possible. No penalties will be incurrened because of this incident, and the duration of the Premium players membership will be extended to compensate this interruption of service.

Sorry about this, and see you soon for (better) news.

The team.

Thanks for keeping us informed! Might you consider a less alarming and frightening photo? The possibilities seem all too real these days. Thanks!

https://en.boardgamearena.com/#!table?table=35882753

This table got an error that forced it to end (never began correctly). But this was a tournament match and declared a random seed winner rather than try to restart the match. If at all possible, please try to fix this so we can play that first round tournament match out correctly.

I hope that - whereever this investigation leads you - you may be able to find a way to make the site faster/ more responsive. I'm sorry to be adding some negativity during what must be a stress-ful few days at BGA, but I think there can be a relationship between reliability and speed issues, so...

The slowness of the site has been a major pain point for me and my fellow group of BGA gamers here in Toronto. Of course, we have no idea if this is because you have no North American servers (?) or something else to do with your provider, or simply that these games are very complicated, heavy, web apps.

Obviously we love BGA, otherwise we wouldn't be paying for it and using it so much in spite of the frustration, but it is a painful for us that the one site we actually pay for is the slowest. 2017 has seen a steady stream of new games at BGA, but no improvement in the site even while improving web tech and cloud services help other sites get ever faster.

I hope you are able to resolve the current issue easily but also that you keep the need for greater speed in mind too.

Will you give extra time for tournaments? Hive tournament ends today and I'm not sure if we manage to finish
