Database access for statistical analysis?

Years ago I saw an article that analyzed thousands of games of Diplomacy based on the opening moves of each country. Turkey wins 5% more often if it moves into the black sea on turn 1 than if it doesn't, etc.
I would love to make similar charts and graphs and tables about games on BGA. Is there a way to get access to a snapshot of the games database to mine for this sort of information?
