Saboteur Suggestions

Hi,

I've really enjoyed Saboteur so far, but here are a few suggestions:

1) The end-of-round play can get a bit tiresome, especially when there are a large number of people and everyone is disabled. Can an option be created to "End Round", where if everyone in the table votes the round can be ended immediately and victory conceded to the Saboteurs? This could speed things up a bit.

2) While I understand the policy of expulsion and ratings, I think that for games with large groups it isn't quite fair. If I have a game of 7 people, and one of the 7 gets booted (or becomes angry and leaves) then the other 6 are penalized. The guy who is losing anyway, and will have a 30 pt ELO deduction loses nothing by quitting early, while the rest of the players lose the ability to gain points in their rating. I completely understanding penalizing the person who leaves, but is it possible to have the other players continue the game normally and have their rating affected normally as long as the final player count is above a certain threshhold?

Thanks for providing an excellent game.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi,

Glad you like the game!

1) I answered this on another thread (http://forum.boardgamearena.com/viewtop ... 5263#p5263)

2) The whole point of a ratings is to mean something. When someone leaves a game, it's broken: some resources or cards will not be available to other players anymore as they would have if the game had been started with a smaller number of players, and it can become completely unbalanced. Also, setting up tresholds would lead to endless haggling about where to draw the line. So only 'good' games are taken into account for ratings. If you like to play for ELO and there is a frequent quitter on a table, create another table and add a restriction to joining for frequent quitters to minimize the chances to have someone quit during the game.

Cheers,
Een
