ELO Calculation: Joint placements results. Games like Lewis & Clark.

There seems to be a miscalculation, for the end result ELO for games that have joint placements.

For example, Lewis & Clark, 1 person wins everyone else loses. So a joint placement in the results for all the other players.

For all the losers, if you have significantly less ELO than that of the other players, around 100 points, then even though you lost, you still end up gaining ELO points.

SchoonerTorrent in this example gains 2 ELO points, even though he lost:

So this could encourage players to find a Lewis & Clark table with players of higher rank, and essentially get a free bet on the game. If they lose then they still get ELO, and if they win then even better.

The same is true, for team game modes like Innovation (2v2) and dark agent, and now Not Alone.

It happens because of the 'tie" between all the losers.

It's up to you to consider it like a bug and report it... or like a fair gift to beginners !

So I think there are 4 scenarios of ties, or joint placements.

1. The team games: (Not Alone, 2v2 Innovation, team dark agent) (maybe Saboteur and Secret Moon too(?))
The ELO scoring between team mates is wrong.

2. Joint Placement games: (Lewis & Clark).
I believe this is also wrong for the same reason as team games. If you finish 2nd (or lose) then you shouldn't be gaining ELO points from the other players that also 'jointly' lost. This creates a 'free' bet scenario, where you can join a multiplayer table with other players of higher ELO and know that you can't lose any ELO even if you lose the game.

3. Other multiplayer games where you tie. Let's say Logger and 2 people finish 1st, a few other people come 3rd, 4th and 5th.
The 2 players who tie, if one has higher ELO than the other, then there is a possibility he could have done better, he could have won outright and not tied to 1st place. So in this instance I think that ELO points should be going to the other 1st place (lower ELO) player.

4. The other scenario is straight up 2 player, like chess. And I think this is obvious ELO should be calculated between these 2 players.

Thanks for the report.
1. some card game also like belote.
2. you mean games where all the losers are tied.
3. No problem currently in this case for me. Winners get each the elo for winning against each opponent and the elo for the tie between them.
4. obvious yeah!
