Winning on time

Why is there a time limit to the game if you can't win on time? I have a game where my opponent stopped moving, any move he would make he loses on the next move but I can't claim a win.

It makes no sense to have time constraints on the game when the only penalty for not moving is the ability to cancel the game.

this is only true if the game was started with 'mo time-limit' (not recommended, play with friends only)

You have a table link?

My opponent is out of time and completely lost, how do I take the win then? I play in the hive app and only get to chose from cancel game and wait. Can I claim the win through the site interface?

OK, you should definitely be able to timeout the other player. There should be a red button at the top saying something like 'skip player out of time'.
If not, then that's a bug of some kind. You can try hitting Cntrl-F5 inside the game to reload the page, slight possibility of helping.

Very poor sportsmanship from him too.

This may be a limitation of the current version of the app. I would indeed advise you to check this game using the site interface, you should be able to kick that player from the game there.
