exploiting bugs

BGA has become an important site at today, they became more and more professional and they seem to work hard on the commercial side of their site....one thing where they seem unable to make progress is bug resolving. Many games, actually the most played games, such as Seasons, have bugs that go on for years now...for Seasons for example I find a looootttttt of players exploiting the bugs, it's just fun no more...I quit the site many times for this reason.

I have had premium account for 2 years , but BGA will not get my money again until they spend some more time solving the bugs of the games instead of making fancy changes for commercial reasons.

If the answer is " we don't have enough time" well then you either cancel the game from your site or you clearly state somewhere that some games are played with "BGA rules", which means "Bugs Inc."....so we can all play freely exploiting bugs because we all know they never will be resolved and that is how we have to accept gameplay here on BGA.

Hi,
I whatched your games to understand your anger.
Is that about Seasons #52667756 ?
There is a matter about potion of the ancient and the possibility of transmutting energies beyond the max capacity.
But this matter can be discussed regarding rules and text of the card. It is not so obviously a bug ! So let's talk about it and vote for it in the bug report to solve it ! https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=4680
And if you do the maths, with out this incident, you lose anyway...
I hear the anger of losing in your message more than a legitimate request of some improvement.
Because you are not explaining anything, just being insulting and peremptory...
Are you mad about the commercial politics (wich can help to figure all these bugs you hate) or are you asking for a free service then you will not care about bugs ????!
You say your are premium member for years but that is not what your profile shows. Why did you reset it ? For stats ?
So please go easy on BGA team and all volunteers that don't desserve such treatment

I am not angry because I lost that Seasons game, in the past I closed accounts because I had enough of bug exploiting by opponents in Seasons, which is my preferred game, so I would say I don't care too much about elo or winning or losing one game.

And please, tell me where I am insulting.

It is a fact that bugs are not getting solved for a long time, especially for Seasons, we had to play months and months with the Igramul bug and so many others.

Instead of feeling insulted for no reason, try to explain why it takes so long to solve clear bugs. You need volunteers, here I am! Tell me how to join so I can start solving those bugs.

Potion of the ancients is a bug for sure, you can never go over your resource limit without first discarding energies, that's stated clearly in the rulebook.

Just try to understand how frustrating it is to play your preferred game with endless bugs.

I don't ask for a free service, I checked back, I actually made 3 yearly payments to BGA, because I respect what they created.

But the bugs are not ok, I prefer BGA volunteers and staff to rather work more at bugs solving than improving stuff like graphics, messaging etc.

Is that insulting? No.

Another thing. If one is not sure about a bug, can't you reach out to the designer which should have all interest in having his game being played with the correct rules? Takes too long? I'll do it for you.

You need the BGA Studio

As a extremely quick overview. BGA provide a framework, it's PHP for the server side logic, and JS for the client.
I am not proficient in either but it's fairly easy to pick it up, just use this-> a lot.

Hello,

Sorry but I have to agree with Schtitn: you are not specific enough.

We do not have a "not fixing bug" policy. Specifically for Seasons, there are +2000 games played here each day, and all extensions are here (for free). So there certainly are bugs from time to time, but if you compare the open bugs list to the number of games played (or the number of reports for "bug exploit"), there are really few of them.

This is the same about "fancy changes for commercial reason": without being specific this is difficult to answer you, because there is no global policy to do "fancy things" here instead of fixing bugs. By the way recently we made a quick survey about "should we focus on new features / new games or on improving service quality", and 75% of you answered that the quality was good enough and that we should add more features / games. It doesn't mean that we stopped improving the quality, but it gives an idea.

At the same time, you explain that you have been a member for 2 years but your account has been created 1 year ago, so this does not contribute to make your message clear...

To conclude:
_ there is no policy on BGA about "not fixing bug" and doing "fancy things" instead.
_ there may be very problematic bugs that are exploited regularly, even with no "bug exploit" report or massive votes from concerned users. But in this case, please be specific and explain the exact situation.

More specific? Well I agree that most of the games don't have bugs, I am talking specifically about Seasons.

About my account, what does that actually change to my point?

If you want to check I think you have access to my IP address, so you can see which accounts I had that were premium.

I am very grateful your site gives me many hours of fun, I am generally satisfied with BGA.

But, for Seasons, one of your most played games, I wish bugs would be solved more quickly.

As I already said, the Igramul bug, lasted for months and it changed dramatically the power of that card which lets you see the hand of the opponent, only it didn't for a long time, it is a bug you solved recently.

I understand if you don't solve a bug quickly for whatever less played game, but Seasons is a topper here, I think you could ask the designer to have a look at the bugs instead of waiting for people to vote. There have been so many and there still are many, so for this game you probably could use a "designer check".

For example, with Schtitn, we are arguing about if the potion of ancients is really a bug???? Who is gonna tell then? For me it's obviously a bug, but if you think there is discussion around it, who is gonna solve it? BGA users voting the bug? Please, check the game with Regis, it would settle things once and for all.

If that is asking too much, no problem, I tried, I will play Seasons knowing that, for example, the potion of ancients can be used in this very unique way here on BGA.

Another example: Dragon Soul, lets you activate a card which has already been activated. People use it with Dice of Malice even when they didn't activate it. More specific: you don't activate Dice of Malice by not rerolling (status card: not activated), then you use Dragon soul...only that card works with cards which have been activated already....but there are a lot more ....really Seasons need a designer check.

Hi,
@Jaxxxis
I have the same reading than yours of potion of ancients.
I was telling you that when there is a doubt about the rules, it takes longer to figure if it is a bug or not.
If you look at the bug section of seasons, you will find some reports wich are not bug, just people who wants a card doing something it doen't or who doesn't understand the cards properly.
So it could scared developpers.
Ok the problem and some others are old now.
But is is also because the community has too work harder, by talking and voting to make it a priority for the team of BGA.
That's how it works here and that's why your provocative speech could be find insulting.
And that's a shame because you are right ;)
