forum offtopic

It would be nice to have an offtopic forum in which I know, to talk about the crowfundings of board games that come out, to show our collection of games, to show our photos of the holidays, to congratulate people for their birthdays, to practice languages with other players, to tell about our countries , to share photos of our cats ... nothing of politics, religion or football to not heat up the environment, but it would be good if we as a community had a space. the chat has never given opportunity to this but with all the complaints that there were when it moved of site perhaps it would be good to create a space more...

Nice idea. The main objection could be though that the ideal time point has passed to create an off topic section. I often think of such processes as self-referential: Had the forums been more elaborate from early on, they would have drawn a lot more users, generated more posts and so attracted even more users... Also, my personal impression is that in 2016 (when I discovered the site, first with another nick though) the atmosphere was a bit more communicative.

As we have a site that's dedicated to a specific theme (board games), the socializing, while probably a welcome side effect for most, is not naturally primary. In contrast to 'pure' forum websites, people don't come for that here; many won't even view it once at all or only for issues about their games of interest.

That's not to say that I dislike the suggestion (the opposite is true), I just fulfill my usual tendency of taking into account many possible perspectives and perhaps express why the admins have designed the forum as it is.
