Odd Discard of Unclued (off chop)

After almost a year of playing, I just came across a 'new' interpretation of the Odd Discard: Unclued.
The suggestion is to take the same action as I do with the card in the same position:
If I Discard, I want you to Discard (and save chop). Or if I Play, I want you to Play same position.

Up until now my understanding was a Discard of Unclued, meant Play the same position (just the opposite).
(my discard draws fresh + clue)

note: a discard of Clued is a Scream.

For me, if i have no informations play=play, and discard=discard.
If I have any other information who make me think about something else, i will do something else. Too situationnal.
