Hello all.
Don't know if I post it on the right place but I an quite new to this website and I need explanations.

I was playing a 6nimmt game with 9 other players (id=56222720)
At some point, I went over my time limit because I was away with no Internet. I still was able to play tought.
But after one or 2 more turn, I was kicked out of the game saying that my time was over and that I lost the game.

I don't understand because my time bank was going up and I played the last turn fast.
Can someone explained me why this happened and if it's possible to continue the game?

When you joined the game, you made an explicit commitment to play in a timely manner. No, not implicit: there was a pop-up message with that statement, and you had to click an agreement button for the game to start.

When any player runs out of time, their clock keeps ticking. It just counts in negative time. Any player with a positive time can kick any player with a negative time. When this happens, the game effectively stops at this point. The person with negative time is considered a loser, and all other players are considered tied winners of a partial game for ranking purposes. This is not an automated procedure: an active player must click a button to kick the other player out.

There are other threads about how fair/unfair this is, and if a method should be introduced to allow the negative time player to continue without fear of being kicked. However, the rule currently is that any player with a negative clock can be kicked by any player with a positive clock.

That's the how. As to the why, it could be various reasons. It could be that someone didn't notice the first couple of moves that you were negative, and when they did, habitually clicked to expel. It could be that they thought they were losing, and decided to pull a win out by expelling you. It could be something completely different. Chances of finding the actual reason are pretty slim.

I know there used to be a method of rejoining the game, but I think that has been removed.

I don't think the game stops; at least not wit turnbased games.
Players still in the game are given the opportunity to play on or leave the game without getting a leave penalty.
When player(s) choose to play on it will make no difference to the endstate of the game anymore;
all tied winners and they gain ELO according to % of game played till the first player was skipped or leaved.
The turn of the skipped player is skipped and also the turns of players that leaved without leave penalty.
But you can continue to play the game for fun or getting to know the game better or any other reason.

You are correct. I summarized too much with the term "effectively" there. Plays still continue, but ELO calculations are guaranteed at that moment. Thanks for the additional clarifications.

I didn't know that you could only be kicked by other players. I thought there was an automatic process at some point.

I know about the time limit but I had an unexpected issue that kept me away from playing.I noticed the other players on the chat and I thought everyone was ok with this... but obviously someone wasn't.

Anyway, that's no big deal and I know exactly how it works now.
