Saboteur end of game view other players discards

I have a suggestion for the end of game in Saboteur of being able to view in order all the cards discarded by another player. Since all 3 rounds are over this does not affect the game play in any manner. I realize this might take more resources but I think it would be a worthwhile addition.

Lately I have too often encountered a game where if feels as though no digging effort is made whatsoever. This cannot all be due to the Saboteurs actions in every situation. I feel it is a few players who either do not know how to play the game properly or do not care what the end results are. I feel the ultimate goal of playing the game should be to try and win. I understand a Digger might occasionally not want a fellow Digger to receive gold for a round so that they can have a higher ranking at the end of the game but they should really play a non-standard variant if they want to play this way. It would be nice to be able to track how people discarded to know if they are worth playing with in the future. Losing a game is not an isssue, the issue is spending time playing and repeatedly not having fun because people are not playing the game to win.

I believe this is differnet than in poker where if you fold you have the right not to show your cards.

Ultimately a player should play their role. If they are a digger they should try to reach the goal. If they are a saboteur they should try to prevent the diggers from reaching the goal. I do not feel it is fair play to discard every single turn during a whole game.

I believe BGA members can see how many cards each player discarded in the game along with tons of other information. Am I wrong?

Hello,

Keeping track of discarded cards to be able to show them at the end woud not be really easy, and would be difficult to correlate to a player's role during the game, since roles change from one round to another. Moreover, a player may have to discard good cards because he is currently sabotaged, so context is important.

If you have some doubts about a specific player/game in my opinion the best thing would be to replay the game from this player's point of view. Then you will see in context how he played and can form your opinion to give a thumb down if you want to be reminded that you don't like to play with that player.

There is currently stats only for cards played during the game for club members. I'll try to add some more stats about discarded cards when I get some time.

Cheers,
Een
