How do I not match a card from my hand when I can do so?

I saw You must turn the card face up when matching so that it is visible to your opponent.Note that it is not obligatory to match a card from your hand even if you can do so -this is useful for strategic play (see section 6: Strategy) in a beginner guide but I am not sure if this is possible on BGA.

it says 'you must capture or discard' in the English interface
but I wish to discard even if I could capture, how can I accomplish that?

Hello~ Most Koi Koi rules i know of do not allow you to just discard a card when you can match it with one on the table.
Here on BGA it's the same, if you can match a card with the card you want to play you have to take it, otherwise play a card that is not on the table to discard it.
