I like the idea behind it, it could be made an option.

But I think the issue can be divided into two situations, and each of these can also split further depending on spectators:

- 2p game with a friend
- many players game when each player is friend towards each other
- many players game when there are players that are not friends towards each other (in this case I think the warning should still apply)

I think it gets more complicated when it's in a game, but if you're direct messaging a friend the warning really shouldn't pop up for saying "that was dumb of me" or "what the hell was that"

If there were options, one to turn chat off would be nice. I get the main site general message, but some players don’t like game chat at all.

Totally agree with an option to turn off chat. I'd never use it, but more controls about chat in general would be nice.
