Is there a way to know how many cards are on the board?

The game rules (
https://www.thamesandkosmos.com/manuals ... d_Game.pdf) indicate that the cards played to the discard pile should be placed so that only the top card is visible. (Page 3, Option 2: Discard a card) As such, there is no indication that there should be any way to know which cards, or indeed even how many, have been played to a particular discard pile. Like most card games, it is up to the players to remember what has been played.

I'm okay with it as is.. but to be fair, when playing the physical game a stack of 2+ cards is always distinguishable from a single card, no matter how perfectly you stack them. This could be critical information when counting down to the last cards...
