Notifications

I have a suggestion how to improve Notifications page itself.
So far it looks like this:
X1 commented on this publication[link] (time ago)
X2 commented on this publication[link] (time ago)
X3 writes on [group] wall: see this post[link] (time ago)
etc...
all unseen are shown red, despite many of links leading to the same publication. But there is no way to distinct that from the mere look at notifications page. You can easily check all, when the red notifications number is low, but when the number is 9+ and you assume most/all of them are about the same page - you start ignoring them. Read one and then only click "see more" enough times to unred it all. An easy way to miss something, in case there is another publication hidden around it.
Few ideas:
- adding a button for "mark all read" (self explanatory)
- If a publication was previously linked in something that is another red (new) notification, how about marking it somehow different? Either only the "newest" relating to this publication gets red (and the other, that it now red, they would be lets say yellow - to mark that you haven't seen it, but you will if you check the red ones), either the other way around - the oldest from "new" notifs (which would be less clear IMO but still an option)
- option to open links from "this publication/this post" in new tab/window. Now even when I click with Ctrl, it pop out in the same tab, so checking discussions notifications takes a lot of time and unnecessary clicks (because the popout is annoyingly small window and to see all comments you have to click more).
- (possibly not on this subpage but related) add "turn off notifications" button / choices of which notifications to have
