A lot of people are at home and will stay at home in the next weeks. Expect more and more users on BGA for at least a month.

Hi,
The impact is extremely important on peak hour.
At now, more than 5000 players are online at the same time on BGA, which never happened before.
Yesterday and today, we experienced some issues due to the very high traffic: light issues yesterday, and important slowdowns today.
Fortunately, we managed one hour ago to quickly find a way to increase the capacity of the service to allow you to play without slowdown. At now, the service responsiveness is back to normal despite the very high number of online players.
As boardgamers, we like to play board games in real life, and we are very sad of the current situation. We hope to provide all of you a way to continue to enjoy board games during this period.
Take care everyone!

Would you consider to offer premium features for all those locked at home, just during the virus alert?

This is something that we consider, but at now we didn't find a good way to do this.
Another element to consider: Premium membership revenues are shared with game publishers. Making them free is going to decrease the game publishers revenues, at the very right moment where they have economic difficulties with the "real life" board games market.
We are going to look closely to what the other online services are doing (ex: netflix for the video, spotify for the music) and if they got a brilliant idea on how to proceed we may imitate them.
(Edit): ... and I should add that we don't feel comfortable to do a 'promotion' linked to the situation anyway: people are dying and we won't take advantage of that to do some marketing operation.

I thought Premium features were offered for a month when creating an new account.
It is of no interest to offer them to older members, even though an additional temporary activity leads to additional expenses to continue the service in good conditions.

Perhaps referral/sponsorship bonuses should temporarily be turned off to manage demand -

New user here.
First of all, thank you guys for existing. This social isolation thing is not going to be easy.
Second, do people with premium accounts and free accounts all use the same servers?
It might be worth it for you guys to consider requiring a subscription to play any game at least until this passes, and I say that with deference to the fact that I am a newcomer.

At now the service can host approximately 9000 players online.
So when this number exceed 9000, we only allow Premium users to log in.
We are also working on increasing service capacity:

hi guys!
I understand that corona virus have bring many users, but it's possible know how many users can support the server?
I would like to suggest this site to some other friends, but I don't doing that because I don't want the server go down.
Let me know when servers will improve the network so I can advertising more.
And congrats for your job! it's a fantastic site!!
Bye

You can advertise anytime: our job is to host everyone, not matter the number
