You might try getting a premium membership. I haven't had those problems

Me too. My Karma dropped to 60 because my real time games were choked. I would love to have that fixed.
No real time for me for a while...

I have the same problem: I did not voluntarily abandon the table, the site threw me out because of too many people present.
How to solve such a problem?
Thanks and see you soon,
Laura

Exactly the same problem!
First of all I am new in the site and they have it totally overload it this days and I did not know that was so serious. I was in a game of two people, my partner was kick out and I was alone in the server, what I needed to do, stay?
Then the next time, in the next day the sistem kick me out. And I get two e-mails at the same time telling me how the - points works. WTF! AND i even cannot contact anyone! WTF are doing?
I am so pissed. I will stop talking good about this side, when they have people around and the sever full they do not know how to manage. And we are all confined, - points should not exist, or at least not so strong! I lost -20 for leaving without me wanting one game, and I need to play 20 games to get them back! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mgrifi, it might be a good idea to relax the penalty system, yes.
But you are way out of line when you think that you should talk bad about the BGA site. It's a difficult time, and the operators try hard to increase the possible load. Just now, 10000 people are playing simultaneously. That's a whopping big number for a realtime site, and 5 times as much as a month before (I might be wrong with the number 5).
You might want to look at the
server status, change the time frame to last month. BGA is swamped with players since a week, and the operators are struggling to keep up with the load.
The social distancing rules came abruptly and no one really planned for them. When we start to get a grip on that virus, the load on BGA will lessen and a big server farm, made for 20.000 players upward, won't be economical. So the admins need to compromise. Servers are expensive (and don't compare them to some discounter box under your desk). Getting a server up and running is work. Identifying bottlenecks in a server network is even more work, and sometimes you find that you designed a site that works fine for 2000 people but scales poorly when you reach 10000. Then you need to redesign, and that's really hard work that must be done carefully.
So please, have patience. Everybody knows that non-premium players get kicked at high load, which doesn't make it better for you when you get a kick, but nobody should hold a grudge against you. Playing turn-based games might not be as exciting, but they give you more time. Did you try that?

I want to add that having Karma of 60 (or even 40) is not a big deal. Many people will usually give you the benefit of the doubt and still play with you, especially in these times. You might be blocked by some people for longer games, but there are many juicy short games on this site, where people don't care about Karma soooo much, usually you can quickly gain back your Karma.

I agree this is a very annoying aspect of this site. I started a first ever game of Tzolkin in realtime which then crashed and I couldnt get restarted. The other players then rather meanly reported me as untrustworthy. I think the system itself is allowing you to be rated poorly for no fault of the user.

Hello rockymc,
this sounds odd. As far as I can see (and I am just a player, like you), you returned after a 7 year hiatus and played exactly one game against exactly one opponent. This game was finished, you didn't run out of time (although you threatened to scratch bottom a few times), and then you lost. Well, that happens to the best of us.
But you talk about "the other players" - plural. You history shows one game, one-on-one. And if there was a "report as untrustworthy", then yes, it was mean, because the log does not show that you quit. Or perhaps it was a lack of leohuertas' experience, because he (or she) has played a total of 6 games on BGA and returned only yesterday from a 5 month break. But the important point is: it didn't register as a karma penalty (or that has been removed, BGA can do that when the servers have problems).
So, your 60% Karma seem to be a relic of your time 7 years ago.
