Private Chat that stays?

Is there a way to open a chat with a friend that will show up on all our tables?
We play multiple games at once and it would be really nice. So far I've tried messaging him directly and creating a group chat as well as the "party" chat on my games in progress screen. All three options close automatically when i switch to a game screen. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Hint: while being in game, open in another tab your friends profile. In this tab, make a message chat with him and write something to him - send! Then it will appear in all other BGA tabs, regardless in game or not.

Thank you for the hint.
But it doesn't stay when I'm in games.

It only appears on non game tabs, and only until i open a game from my tables list then that tab doesn't have it at all even if i go back to a non game page. I have to send another message from the original tab to get it to pop back up.
And having to toggle to a separate tab to check if he's said anything isn't very convenient either.
Anyone else have this problem / have a solution suggestion?

I've had this problem, and it gets worse if you try to do an audio/video chat.
Unfortunately, switching tabs is about the only solution. But, as soon as a message is posted in the group chat, it should appear on the game page.
So, clarifying. Create a group chat. Say something. Open a new tab, and create a game. Have one person switch back to the group chat tab, and say something. The message should appear on everyone's game page, and now people can click on that to be in the group chat while still playing a game.
Yes, inconvenient, but about the only workaround I've found.
