2 vs 2 games?

Hi.
I played a lot of Seasons games a few years ago.
A friend of mine also plays a lot of Seasons.

I'd like to find a board game that could be played in 2 vs 2 so my friend and I can play as a team.
I don't really know what kind of game I'm looking for…

I don't like very abstract games (chess, hive), deep strategy games with a lot of resources or things like that to manage, long-term planning…
I like more spontaneous games, fairly quick actions, with a bit of luck (but not too much! Not more than Seasons).
A medium/long learning curve so our skills can improve in long-term.
I also like when our actions can have a direct effect on our opponent. Seasons is a (just a) bit weak regarding this.
Ideally no more than 30min a game.

Any suggestions?

first game that comes to mind is innovation. plays nicely as a 2v2, it has a right amount of strategy and luck I think, and it is not too hard. there's a lot of player interaction.

I also think tock has a 2v2 mode, so you could check that out as well.

I think Tash Kalar has a 2 v 2 mode, but I think it might be a fairly abstract game? It's on my list of games on here to look in to so I don't know for sure

Cinco also has 2v2 (and 2v2v2) play, but I'm not sure if it has a way to set the teams at table configuration. I'm pretty sure innovation does, and that's going to be about the same weight as Seasons. Toc and Cinco are a lot lighter, and I don't know anything about Tash Kalar.

I love the levels of thinking that go on in a 2v2 game of Innovation but have not sat for one in over a year because I automatically lose ELO points to lower-rated partners, and this is a snag that you will encounter in all 2v2 games played here on BGA.

Back when this inequity was addressed, Admin proposed a workable solution to resolving this problem but, to my knowledge, has not followed up with an actual implementation of that solution.

Thank you for your suggestions.
I did a few games of tal kashar a few years ago, I kinda liked it but it hurt my brain a bit 😅
Games are a bit long though.

I'll have a look at the others!

vigorousRoll: it won't be an issue for me as I intend to play with only my friend.
