Hide activity

It'd be nice if my activity on the site was optionally not public. I don't want to broadcast to the world a trail of all the games I played, and with whom.

This definitely should be existing.

I don't even know if it's completely legal to not let us decide what is public or not. In Europe at least, with GPDR.

Hi,
I don't think there is a broblem, what does GPDR have to do with that? BGA doesn't give your name.
I can swear you that the world doesn't care what games a person whose pseudo is kevinopod has played.
If you don't want people to know what you are doing on the internet, you can just not give your name, that's what pseudonyms are for. Don't you think this is enough? (real question, not being contemptuous)

I would also like to hide my activity. If I added a coworker as a friend,I wouldn't want them to see that I was playing games during work hours.

I also find it odd that you don't have to mutually "friend" someone before they track your presence. Someone can add me as a friend, but maybe I think they're creepy and don't also add them. Yet they can still stalk me. Even if there is no complete opt out as suggested by the OP, at a minimum it should be required that you choose to add someone as a friend before they can see your activity.

They do not have to unmask your real name in order for the GDPR to apply. See, for example,
"The 7 biggest misunderstandings about the GDPR: Misunderstanding 2: Pseudonymised Data"

But even if it isn't strictly a GDPR violation, it should still be a choice. You may not care if people follow you around, but that's your preference and others may feel differently.

Well don't get me wrong, I do care if people track me, but I don't care if people track my pseudo, that was my point here. I feel I can be anonymous on BGA. I didn't think of the case of someone who wanted to be recognized by someone they know personally and at the same time wanted to hide them their activity here.

Deafening silence has been the response.
