When we play in real-life we always use the common variant that the dealer gets to pick the trump suit (rather than it being randomised).

It would be great if this could be a table option ?

Or... Santa Monica bridge club rule: highest bidder names trump.

If there was such a rule, "no trumps" could be an option as per bridge. Sometimes you get a hand with a lot of strong cards across 3 or 4 suits and you don't want your aces and kings getting trumped.

While we never played 'dealers choice', which seems contrary to the hellish nature of the game, we did deal out all the cards, and had 'no trump' for 4 people when everyone got 13 cards.
