And there are huge differences in skill between 1800-1700, 1700-1600 and ~1600.
It feels like the Arena system for 7 Wonders is just Elo, but you can't choose your opponents.

Can we have an option to play with only players that have +100/-100 EAS?

I've been thinking about setting up a tournament restricted to people that are playing at my "level" - for a different game, but with the goal of playing against more players of my skill level. However, I'm looking for a guide that shows the score range for each "level." I can't find one.

Is there somewhere that shows the point range for the following:
  • Beginners
  • Apprentice
  • Average
  • Good
  • Strong
  • Expert

  • Beginners
--> 0
  • Apprentice
--> 1-100
  • Average
--> 100-200
  • Good
--> 200-300
  • Strong
--> 300-500
  • Expert
--> 500-700? (And master 700+ I think)
There ^

The Arena makes no sense anymore. As time passes, the levels and skills have decreased a lot since you have to play with weaker and weaker opponents. From a competitive point of view, the system is worse than the original ELO.

And even more, you can see players with 1800+ who simply grind ELO versus weak players.

Just imagine that you have top players who accept "under-elite" players, which means they state "I might become "arena champion" and beat only opponents ranked around the 1000th place". Ridiculous.

In my opinion the system is a complete failure because instead of putting you in great games versus tough opponents, you're randomely paired with very bad players who influence a lot the game through their bad plays. The best we can do is that all good players add themselves as friend, and open tables to play between themselves. Even in training mode, it doesn't matter in the end. I just want to play interresting games, and it has become more and more difficult.

Yes - one of the major weaknesses of the arena system is the randomness of opponents & the large gaps in skill even within the same elite league leading to very unbalanced games. The best format would be to have the top x players by ELO play a turn-based round-robin, assuring that nobody can become the champion by beating weak players.
