Why do some games allow to undo moves and others don't?

I was just wondering as La Granja for example allows me to undo every move while other games like Outlaws, Hive or Tokaido at least need me to confirm my move by clicking twice. And then there are games like Lost Cities where you can misclick fairly easily but there is no possibility to prevent that. I was just wondering if there is some system to it or if it is just randomly decided.

Different developers, different implementation criteria at the time, some had undo added at a later time, others yet would be too hard/much work to add it to.

I imagine that some games don't have undo because it would allow you to: 1) take an action that reveals new information or leads to a new development, and then 2) undo it to 3) take a different action instead if the new information/development wasn't favorable to you.
In other words, it would enable cheating.

It would be nice though if an undo was possible with the consent of everyone. My first game on here was teaching some friends Seasons, and they could have used some take backs for cards they didn't 100% understand.

The undo would be accepted in training mode.

I actually think they could implement undo globally at the engine level. Prompt all users to accept the undo, make it something the game host can turn on/off. Everyone is happy. Dominion does undo well like this, it allows the players to decide if it's fair or not. Miss-clicking in a longer unforgiving game like Madeira and you've ruined your experience. They should be able to use the engine stack to accomplish this.

Sorry, I don't support that

I agree, this available on checkers and I don't like that at all.

A good undo feature would automatically prevent the user from undo'ing in case of new information, look at yucata.de for example. it has undo on all their games, and it greatly enhances the experience with absolutely 0 drawbacks.
I imagine one of the main reasons undo isn't implemented here globally is, because of the interface and the way games are developed. it is not as automatic as it is on yucata. Also, the replay system.

You can undo your moves in Through the Ages, probably because there is a passage about it in the rulebook how you could keep track of the game state in a real physical game. You are even being warned if you are sure that you want to finish your move if you're going to face negative issues or have unused actions. As a player, this is great UI/UX design, preventing you from doing misplays which you might regret later. I'd wish more games would adopt that.
