[FR/EN] MODERATION, reports, behaviors and manners.

[ENGLISH] Version Française en dessous.

Hello everyone.
Just a few words on how to act on Board Game Arena, about bad behaviors, insults, cheating and general manners.

During the last 4 weeks, we've treated a lot of reports due to the newcomers and mostly... bored children.
But I want to be clear about some issues in regards to the forums :

1) There is a dedicated report system for players : on the top right of every player's profile. PLEASE use the player report system instead of sending emails or making forum posts : if there's no report, there's no case. Most reports are resolved within 24h and we have expanded our moderator team to deal with the growing number of reports. Many cases are more involved and we discuss these internally before making any decisions.

2) Don't take justice into your own hands. We understand that you may disagree with a resolution or find it to be unfair. But we require ourselves to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that a player is guilty, before any actions are taken. We do not wish to penalize innocent users, we do everything to protect you, please help us to do it.

3) All threads with their titles written entierely in CAPS will be deleted without any further notice.

We want to care.
But we need to be efficient as the player base is growing.
I wish to keep you safe, for all of us to enjoy Board Game Arena in the best way.
Thanks for your time.

[FRANCAIS]

On va optimiser. Merci pour la suggestion.

I'm having difficulty reporting a player's insulting behavior. The game has ended and I left the chat.
How do I reach his player profile to report this issue?
A search for his name doesn't get me to his profile. Will I have to search the tens of thousands of users in the list? It's not alphabetized, so that seems awkward. Suggestions?

You can see your finished games in your profile, and there you‘ll find his name & profile

If someone has been reported and a moderator has a ruling, I see there is a method for the person that has been moderated to dispute the ruling (with a higher penalty for disputing incorrectly). Is there a method for seeking clarification/understanding?

You should be able to find their username here, if you click on it you will open their profile page.

Unfortunately, the current system of moderation is highly flawed. The Moderation Policy is poorly written and at least one moderator is not applying the Moderation Policy correctly. This flies in the face of basic principles of administrative law and fundamental justice.

I am trying to understand how moderators handle reports. I was involved in a game where two others were swearing, insulting, and making racist comments. I made the mistake of retaliating and making a comment calling them a tool and later lame. I was reported by someone and given a simple warning not to insult even if antagonized. I went back and reported the two users for their extremely rude insults. The one came back that the report was closed because the person had already been be reported for this and can’t be punished twice for the same infraction.

Well the next day I get a notice that I have been reported again and found guilty. This time the notice was very stern! I had a 3 day ban from chat, and my Karma was reduced to 50% from 100%. The moderator seemed to handle it like I ignored last warning and just did it again. But the problem is, the report was for the same game, probably made by the 2 people who were punished for swearing and making racist comments.

I appealed stating that I already had a guilty infraction for this incident and I am receiving a second one for same game. The response I received was 1 sentence, “You have 2 reports.”

I am also facing a permanent ban from site if I receive another report in the next 6 months.

How do I get a moderator to actually look at this and see that it is from same game. I do deserve the one report but not the second.
