Cribbage project - Licensing - Beginner Advice

I want to create cribbage.
I am just starting out day one, have my account / sftp working on the hearts tutorial as a first introduction to the framework/environment
Before I invest too much time I want to make sure this is an ok project to work on
It seems someone was working on this in 2018 but I can not find it in the list of projects
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=13073&p=45067
Is cribbage public domain or does it have a licensee? If so who?
Now for art work, I assume I can use the card tilesheet from hearts?
What about a board I want to use the fancy 29 board, if I redraw it as a graphic is there any licensing for the design itself

Thank you

Hello and welcome...
always have a look at BGG for information about a game : you have to fill gameinfos.inc.php
pagat is a great reference for card games :
https://www.pagat.com/adders/crib6.html
Do you really need a board ?

Need is an interesting word
No one can be played without it, but that is part of cribbage is to "see" where the pegs are on the board, to trash talk about what street you are on

Hi Mike and welcome to bga studio.
Cribbage is public domain so there is no worries there. It's BGG page is here
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/2398/cribbage. (You will need the bgg number 2398 when filling out game information).
We recently purged projects from the project list that had been inactive for a long period so you will probably need to start from scratch.
The card tile set from the tutorial is fine to use, as is any images that you are sure are public domain. You are also welcome to make your own graphics if suitable. With respect to the board you linked you would have to research its origins to determine if it was public domain to recreate it yourself or go without.
Hope that helps a bit.

Yes thank you, I am not thinking if I use a board I will use the standard board which I believe the design is public domain and if I draw the graphic my self no issues.
Also zones may be more easier on this board, thinking I can calculate x and y vs the first board where I may have to define all 123 x 2 zones for each peg hole... Still learning
