Thank you,

Hello,

We don't currently support right to left languages (because this would in theory need to reverse completely the design of the site to flow from right to left, which is really not easy). Or maybe you think that even for right to left languages, the translation could be made without reversing the site design? (I don't know what is usual on the web for this type of internationalization)

Cheers,
Een

Hello,
Thank you for the reply, but I must say that in my opinion it wont make a big difference the right and left and left to right, I dont think it should change the whole page.
You can do the translation and keep it in the left to right as done now, it wont be perfect but I think ppl will be ok with it and get use to it as long as the language is understandable.

In the future, if you do decide to translate into hebrew or any other language from right to left, pls inform. (it is also possible to do a trial translation and leave the current design and see how it works out).

thank you,
crazy c.

Ok, let's give it a try then! ;)
Hebrew is now open for translation, we'll see if it works out!
(NB : it would be best to limit translations to the mainsite and one game until you are sure that it works out, in order not to do a lot of work for nothing)

Cheers,
Een

Hello,
Thank you for letting us translate Board Game Arena to Hebrew. I have asked other Hebrew speakers to help as well.
As you can see, we have translated a few games and are in the process of translating the main site. Im sure that some parts of the translation might be changed after it airs (some words depend the context).
If there is anything we should know about the work we are doing or anything else please let us know.
I assume that you will make the Hebrew version available after the main site translation is done(?).

Again, Thank you very much.
Crazy C.

Hello,

Thanks for your work on the translation!
As this is a first for right to left languages, and as it seems that there has been enough translations in the mainsite interface for the test to be meaningful, I made the Hebrew version available right now so that you can see if it works even though the website design is left to right.
So you will know if it's worth the extra effort to finish the translation.

Please let me know how it goes.

Cheers,
Een

Hi,

After taking a look just at the main site notifications, I can say things mostly work - the main problem is with numbers. for example, in the home page, the invitation to the Gosu tournament says now what in English would be "started 22:00 yesterday at hour" [מתחיל 22:00 אתמול בשעה]. The same problem exists when English characters appear. I have to say, since this is such a common problem it doesn't really bother me, cause I've gotten used to it - it's pretty common in Israeli websites as well. I don't really know if there is a simple tweak for that (if there is an Israeli web designer here, maybe they have an idea?).

What does bother me - and this is mostly a note for you other Hebrew translators - is that the translation mostly addresses men. Please try to use sentences that would include women too when you're translating.

Michal
