Suppress "[Player] is now online/offline" notifications in game log?

If I leave a browser tab open for a specific, long-running turn-based game, then eventually my gamelog will be full of:
- Player X is online
- Player X is offline
- Player Y is online
- Player Y is offline
- Player Z is online
- Player Z is offline
etc
None of which is relevant to the game I'm playing as players X, Y, Z aren't in this game. (And even if they were: I wouldn't care, as it's a turn-based game!).
This spam fills up the gamelog and eventually forces me to refresh the tab to clear out it.
Is there anyway this notification could be suppressed?

I agree, also not really beneficial to have in the chat log for all friends coming on / going off.

I think this bug report more accurately describes the issue:

I agree to stop seeing these notices but it is not a privacy problem as commented in the link. it is rather an excess of unnecessary information.
I don't need a prompt if a friend is online or offline. I already have a tab that tells me which friends are online. If I need something from him, I'll send him a private message, I'm not waiting to see when he connects to approach him. N
or does it help me to know if someone has signed up for 17 tournaments.
I only consult the game history when I want to see what games a friend is playing, to inspire me to try a new one, or to invite him to play something he is playing these days. I could also ask, in any case.
I don't need to see if he is winning the games or not, but there are people who do like to look at him and show off when he wins.
showing all these questions should be optional for each player.
