I think the French language is just get rushed everytime, like I don't have any possibility to do a nice one on game that I know.

Would be nicer if I could traduct some stuff.

It's the nature of the game, I'm afraid. Since translating is incentivized with gift points, people will go and rush things for a free premium membership. Sometimes for languages not even theirs.

Is it bad? Some might argue it is not. You will have the "rough translation" done first, to put it diplomatically, and then the others will tweak it to a clearer and localized form. This however presupposes that other people will take the extra effort to fix or improve the current translations, considering the initial incentive offered was lost in the initial rush. One after all is providing free localization work to a partially free platform.

would love an alternative was to get some gifts and would be possible for everyone, like when a arena way to win gifts, the champions will get a 10 and the 10th, one (10-(place-1)). (So people that win like once in every game should be have a seasonal possibility.

You also get gift points for referring friends here and for winning at a new game for the first time. The gift points that you can gain with translations are peanuts compared to the rewards given as incentive for bug hunting when you register as a BGA developer. These might be other viable venues for you.

Well, I don't have friends that I can invite right now.

That leaves two other options that I mentioned. One is: Try out as many new games as you can here until you win in it for the first time.
Honestly, translations is in no way a guaranteed or even good steady stream of free gift points.

I think this is true for most members.
The main reason is that the gift points system values the translation of a text item at 0.02 €, based on the price of the annual Premium subscription.

Living in France, I value my working time at 10 €/h.
So, from a strictly financial point of view, do I have any interest in working an hour, using the remuneration of this work to contribute to the BGA site, or succeeding in obtaining 500 validated translations, each valued 0.02 €?

I do not need to do any more calculations to answer that more than 8 seconds are needed to get a validated translation (on average), and most certainly more than 80 seconds. You can therefore conclude that I do translations on the BGA site mainly because I like to do them for a selection of games that are of particular interest to me.

Yes, the reward doesn't match the time spent at all, this is for enthusiasts only. Not to mention that the system only awards the last edit to a translation. If you were the first to translate a whole string, but then somebody comes and rewords your sentence, changing only one word, maybe? Your loss.

I do translations because I like it. Some of us are first to translate and know that this is not gonna stay like this forever.
I make mistakes in translation that will be corrected. I make translations that will be changed for a space or a symbol.
I even correct approved translations that do not give anything, just the pleasure to have a clean and understandable text for games.
I translate games I know or I am interested in. I appreciate the same work done by others on other games.

Fully agree with you, ollyfish2002! I like good translations. I enjoy investing my time to help make good translations. I appreciate seeing other translators correcting and improving my translations to make things even better. The gift points are just... a nice gift to me.
