Board Game Arena

Me, as well as other players, are growing VERY tired of this Arena implementation. The Elite League is now populated by extremelly weak players who destroy most of the games by their bad choices. Games are becoming uninterresting as hell.

I propose to create a group (I think about Whatsapp for now) where we exchange our phone numbers so that we can talk and organize simple games between us.

A muted group on whatsapp shouldn't be too disturbing. The idea is simply to post a message when someone would like to play, and if other players respond, you just have to come here to create a table.

If you like the idea, you can send me your number in private message and i'll add you to the group.

I think about two conditions to belong to the group. Either being recognized as a strong player by someone from within the group, or being a bit less strong, but with a desire to improve and talk about games.

To join the group doesn't force you to anything. You can simply ignore all chat and see how it goes. In the beginning, I'd like to see if the idea encounters success or not. If we are enough players, we might think about organizing our own tournament (but that's for the future).

I would recommend using Discord for such an idea, it should be available on all platforms. Doesn't require a download for desktop and is the most popular choice. (Or a 7wonders bga group, there have been successful groups for Tokaido, Secret Moon and Saboteur so far that I have seen)

On another note, several weeks ago I have posted that the number of elite players has reached the 770s. That number must have definitely increased by now, I assume we would have at the very least 1k elites in 7wonders. And without a filtering option, there's literally no point in playing arena.

I agree that there are far too many players in elite league and by this the competition decreases... in any case, the point of arena: playing vs the top players is fading away.

Arena has hardly any added value vs playing simple games (apart from the fact that we can play more 3p games now, and not those dump 7player games with random wonder sides )

But I think that's also because of the popularity off 7wonders, much ppl playing it (without filter) so a lot of players reaching Elite League... it would be good to have additional filters ( above 1600, 1700, 1800....) but it won't be relevant for all games.

A 7wonders bga group would be fine!

I like the idea of a 7w group.
I Am studing the Pistolero's strategy guide slowly, but i Am still not sure about calling myself strong. So i'd like to take an exam with 2 strong players (or something else) to be admitted in the group.

How not to be fond of the Arena reward implementation? First place tied with second player but with less money : minus 15 points because I'm paired with 1300 player. First place with more than 10 points above second player : plus 5 points...

Arena needs rating deflation, maybe shorter seasons so there is more pushing.
With 3 players it would be also interesting to draft a wonder (pick from 2).

My hope is for organizing in house tournaments, maybe playing on TTS with a couple of expansions.
