I was the last player in the round. A previous player had collected the final skill token, triggering the end of the game. On my turn I completed a set of three, yet Iwas also given a skill token even though there should have been no more to collect.

It didn't change the game result, but might in some cases.

My mistake, this is not a bug! You can indeed collect extra skill tokens, it's just the countdown stack is used as the game timer.
