Expel Player

I have asked BGA to explain to me why a player has "expel player" linked under their handle while they are waiting for others to join the table before play can start. If you hover over this link it says to kick the player off the table. Why do some players have this endearing link under their handle? It makes many others who want to join the table quit. BGA did not answer this question yet. Can anyone here please enlighten me? Thanks.

This is a holdover from the earlier days of BGA.
First, are you sure that not everyone has that link? I thought that the table administrator could kick anyone from the table before it started.
But, its purpose is to allow the table administrator to not be forced to play with someone they don't want to. People who they have red-thumbed (before the implementation of "automatic no-play with red-thumbed opponents"). People with bad karma (before the implementation of "restrict table access by karma level"). People who, in a game that works better with chat, didn't have a certain language listed in their profile (before restrict by language).
Or, y'know, people who just sound like fools on the forums that no automatic method can detect
Granted, it has been a long time since I have used the real-time manual lobby, so my information may be out of date.
Speaking of which, there may be other reasons that people join a game and then quit. In the automatic lobby, a player will join all open games in the list of games they want to play. As soon as one table starts, they quit all other tables. This is done by the system, not by a conscious decision by the player.

Sometimes you just forget to set correct restrictions for the table and a player joins who you don't want at your table (e.g. bad reputation). Or you don't want to play against the same player back-to-back. Or sometimes I'll open a "friends-only" table too early and unknown players join and I regretfully have to expell them.
Most often, you want to expell a player who is apparently inactive. If the player doesn't react to chat or just doesn't accept game start.
