Hi all - I hope this is not the wrong place to ask. I've done a search on the forum but couldn't find an answer.

Some players have information like "average player", "strong player" to their name, others don't. Where does this information come from?

I like joining tables of turn-based games, but often they say "average/strong/etc players only", and I don't know where I can see what level I am. It usually lets me join when "average or above" is asked for, but I feel a bit shy about it, because I'm not sure I match the level, so I would like to know what my skill level for a game is.

Based on Elo ratings. Beginner - 0, Apprentice - 1+, Nothing - 100+, Good - 200+, Strong - 300+

So, 'nothing' corresponds to 'average' I suppose and means nothing is shown with my name, is that correct?
And the ELO is the number by the bluish victory wreath?

So that would mean if it says "average and above" on the offered table, I can join any game where I'm higher than 100 (my highest is currently 150).

I have never used those filters, but I think so yes. Anyone over 100 should be able to join tables with "Average and above".

I was searching for this information too.

you'll only see tables that you're able to join (according to your skill level, etc), so there's never any need to worry. At worst you may see the table but then not actually be able to join.
if someone sets up a table and asks for Expert and above, you'll never see that table if you have ELO 150.

Note that ELO ranking sometimes is simply just a matter of playing games, don't be too put off by rankings up to Good.

Average is 100 - 200, but is displayed as nothing in the list of tables.

Below 100:
beginner (no games ever played), then apprentice. Almost by default as long as you play enough games you'll get to 100 ELO. Afterwards you won't be able to go below ELO 100.

Playing games with others at the same level is the best experience IMO. Using the filters is a good idea and is a general sign that you know what you're doing setting up the game and the table won't time out and all the players will have an enjoyable experience.
For your first ever game it's a very good idea to limit the ranking to beginner only, that way it will encourage others that have never played to join too, and you'll all be in the same boat.
After some time when you feel more proficient and your rank increases and there is a skill level required in order to have a satisfying game then that is good too.

*Some* games have a very small player pool so you have to cast the net wider sometimes.
