Lame strategy possible for 2 player games in a real time tournament

BGA's approach to forfeiting a player on time is different from any other real time server I know. If one player is significantly ahead on the clock and is losing but not yet officially lost on the board, if the OTB winning player oversteps the time limit, all the opponent needs to do is- nothing! Before their time runs out, the round will end, and the player with negative time will forfeit. So DON'T force the negative time player to move, just sit back and collect the win.

Is this just fine according to the admins? I'm not condoning such practice. I'm just pointing out that it's possible. Has anyone seen this behavior in a tournament? The general consensus I have heard is that such behavior is "lame." But for a player used to the server immediately forfeiting anyone who oversteps the time control, how is this really any different?

que?
You need to re-write that first paragraph because it doesn't make a lot of sense.

I’m pretty sure that it does need an action from the other player in tournaments too (definitely in regular games), he needs to push 1 button, wait 20sec, and then confirm.

If you go to a real world chess tournament, they'll also have similar times keeping things from getting delayed.

If you can't play within the set time limits, then that tournament isn't for you.

It's also possible for people to do the same thing with turn-based tournaments.

I think BGA should go further: my view is that players who use up their clock should automatically lose as soon as it happens.

At the moment, if my opponent has used up their time, I must either wait for the game clock to run down or manually flag my opponent. In a game where my opponent has a winning on-board position, this can make me look like a bad sport, even though they have failed to meet the tournament requirements.
