Is there a way to know when a tournament for a specific game is created?

There seem to be very few tournaments now, where there used to be many every day. I only had a chance to sign up for 2 successfully. I then saw an event for Potion Explosion, which I was very interested in attending, but 10 minutes after the event started, I found out it was real time and was disqualified. I was very dissapointed that I didn't get to play, having signed up 3 weeks prior to the event. Now there is almost nothing scheduled. I would really like to play in a large tournament of this (and some other) games, but I get the impression that it may not be scheduled for months, if ever.
My first question is, is there a way to get notifications for a specific game tournament, without checking on the website every day to see what is created? I would also ask, if there is a group that is open to taking more responsibility in creating tournaments? Every other one I have seen run seems to fill up, so even when there were a lot, there are still enough participants.
I recognize that right now I am not a premuim member, and the answer could be "become a premium member and create your own tournament". But, I don't think should be necessary.
