lot's of players are conceding during the final turn. so annoying

Give them a private red thumb. You won't have to play with them anymore.

what kind of price?

I feel that the Price for conceding should be something like the following,

1).10 XP point loss ( same as leaving a game in progress).
2). If you concede or leave a game you are locked out of conceding again for 10 games (repeat offenders are blocked for longer and longer periods of time).
3).You cannot concede if the game is more than 75% complete.

That way there is a disadvantage to conceding a match just because you don't like to lose.

Exactly.
Conceding should be exactly the same as leaving the game, honestly I cannot believe the penalty is so light for abandoning games.
I understand that sometimes unexpected things come up but leaving / forfeiting / conceding games should be an option of absolute last resort for anyone.
It is extremely bad sportsmanship.

There is a huge difference between leaving/quitting a game and conceding a game.

Leaving/quitting a game is stating "I value my individual time more than I value my commitment to another player to determine who is better at this game." It is a selfish act that wastes the time of the other player (time spent finding a table, time in the game) and does not fit well in the community BGA wishes to support.

Conceding a game is an acknowledgement that the other person is the better player (at least for the current game). It saves time by not requiring that all moves be finished in a game with a forgone conclusion. Both players can then start looking for another game or do other activities. It is a fairly common practice in chess tournaments.

Preventing players from conceding before 50% of game progress was designed to eliminate a method of quitting without penalty for those who don't care about their ranking. Removing the ability to concede at 75% of the game will then mean that people will not be able to see if a game is truly in a losing position before that point is reached.


Yes, conceding on the last move when it was clear several moves before that the game would end in one way is bad sportsmanship. This is why I had the suggestion of a red thumb for such people. But to remove the ability to say "you win, let's do something else" is not the answer. Perhaps including in public red thumbs an option of "this person exhibits poor sportsmanship" is.

Even conceding on the final turn is not bad sportsmanship. It's just saying "Okay. You win. This is done" Which is fine. Just because you wanted to put down your last stone or whatever, and that would've made you feel better, doesn't give you the rights to even one second of anyone else's time, once they've decided that they are done. Conceding a two-player game is always okay. No exceptions.

yeah, but some games needed to, because like in races, you are really far behind, why continuing, you know you lose, an let the others ones finish normally.

But depending of why, if just doing it for fun, no, but if you are in losing points, ok.
The price will be here only if you was winning. Like why do you concede if you are on the win?

And for that, maybe +15 Elo of penality.

Conceding is only available in 2-player games. (Well, games with only two active players left.)
