When the game starts, it asks this question:

"you must choose which power will start"

Does this mean I choose which god moves first? Then my opponent chooses which god they want? (which means I get the remaining god?)

Yep, exactly as you said !
As the "contestant" (the one choosing matchup), your task is to go with the most balanced matchup as possible, including which power start, otherwise the other player will use the unbalanceness and pick the stronger choice.

Thanks! Is the "contestant" chosen randomly? Or does it depend on who starts the game and who joins the game? (just curious, I like to know how these things work)
