one more setting to help avoid "pre" low karma players.

Hello,

While avoiding low karma player avoidance in the setting is helpful and works a lot of the time, there is still the issue of new accounts (starting at Karama 100) still getting into games and just never playing again once they start to lose.

I would suggest a setting be added of how long since the account was created, or how often it was played. I would be happy to avoid anyone that has an account less than 6 months old (as I figure 6 months will show their true Karma value).

Or it might be easier to start new accounts at like 70 karma, so I can avoid when with the 75 percent or better Karma, Or better yet add in a "only 100 percent Karma setting" and start new players at 90 percent Karma.

Some games are hard to start up, so when I do get a game that goes for a month or so and to have people just quit, makes me feel like I wasted a month, and that feeling kind of sucks.

Hi, new BGA accounts already start only with 75% Karma AFAIK. And you can only particpate in more turn-based games if you already succesfully finished a few turn-based games. (I think you can only attend one or two turn-based games as a new account and this number slightly increases for every turn-based game you finish.)

There will always be people who find BGA interesting for a few weeks and reliably come back to it but then loose interest or go through real-life issues or whatever. Not much we can do about it.

You can combine the 75% karma setting with 100+elo. If you're looking to avoid new players. That should give you a better chance in games where you have that elo criteria.

Especially since you don't lose rating if you're under 100

hmm the 100 Elo might be the trick, just hard to do with the BETA games as no one has much rank in them.

I guess I am just frustrated on having to kill yet another game after waiting for a player for a week before killing it (after having for a month).

Thanks,

There's a setting for >85% karma, which is what I use. It'll warn you that it discludes new members, which of course is what you're going for.

I don't use the "simple lobby" so don't know if that works there.

I don't think having 100 ELO necessarily means anything, especially if someone is already an expert at some game before coming here. And if someone happens to just stink at a game, they may never hit 100. So I don't see this as a sign of a player's reliability at the site.
