Hi everybody

Just being curious.
Sometimes a player is connected "close enough" to you, and in that case they are indicated as being "online near you" (or something like that in English: my interface is in French) after your friend drop-down list.

Question: what is the distance considered for that information to appear?

Any thoughts?

tbh, I don't know what you're talking about. I play with with people from 12 miles away - nothing comes up.
The only thing that comes up is a warning about the same IP Address in the game table setup and only for people inside the same house / work.

I don't see that either. One person is within probably 5 miles of me but doesn't show anything special. They all just say "online."

It includes at least same IP accounts, both current and recent, I believe.

OK, 5 miles is probably lots too great.
Imagine when you play in a big city, you'd had thousands?

I surmise this distance is rather measured in yards/meters: when that information pops up (and it is far from being everyday), I only get it once: only one person is close enough. So the chosen distance must be very small. If you live in the countryside you'll probably never encounter that information at all indeed.

It does not includes same IP: I played from my flat where I am alone using my internet connexion for sure. I think it was somebody leaving in the same building or maybe across the street, but I can't be sure!

The account you saw may not have been on the same IP as you. But it certainly includes same IP accounts.

Thanks, but sorry, I don't understand what you mean by that...

And what does make you confident it has something to do with IP adresses? I'd rather say the point of this feature is that it makes you discover neighbour players, so having a constraint on IP would be counter-productive IMO.
