Board Game Arena

Have a couple of kids (ages 5 and 7, both love games) that now have small basic laptops and would love to get them playing some BGA ..... since you can only sort by complexity for "age", what are your recommendations for good games for the youngsters?

They've added Forbidden Island in the Beta section which should work for the 7 year old, not sure about the five year old though as a co-op you can talk them through it maybe?

Can't Stop is relatively simple, and there is connect 4 and GoMoku on here which are simple games to play, but I don't know of too many others

There are a decent amount that I think could work:

• Incan Gold, Celestia and Can't Stop are very easy to learn "push your luck" games.
• Coup, Stir Fry Eighteen and Love Letter are simple card-based bluffing/guessing games.
• Saboteur is a social deduction game.
• Bubblee Pop, ToeShamBo and Soluna are straightforward 2 player games. Color Pop is easy as well, and can also be played with more players.
• For Sale and 6 Nimmt are games where you have to maximise your gain (or minimise your loss) while also trying to predict your opponents' moves.
• Solo is a more dynamic variant of UNO.
• Butterfly is a card-taking game that should be good basic math practise as well. Coloretto is similar.
• Remember When is a fun social game about superheroes and villains.
• Battleship and Connect 4 are classics.

I wouldn't really recommend beta games though, as they might still contain some bugs which could ruin their experience.

Abstract games are quite often the games with the simplest rule set, most of them are also 2-player.

Reversi, Quoridor, Kalah, Hex, Neutreeko, Draughts/Checkers and others.

Personal recommendation from that list would be Quoridor (get to the end, place fences to stop your opponent), and Neutreeko (get 3 in a line).
Blooms might also work.
