Board Game Arena

Hi everybody,

I know that French Tarot is originally designed for 4 players and that is the configuration for live competitive events. Hence it seems logical that Arena games are 4p by default. For some people it is the only true Tarot and I understand their point of view even if I personally do not share it.

However, the stats show that 64% of the tables are played with 5 players (last month). 5 player configuration is quite popular indeed and can be seen as a kind of different game, maybe funnier according to some people, but which still has a competitive value IMO.

Would you vote for an introduction of 5 player game in Arena, 1 out of 3 seasons for example or maybe 1 out of 2?
Dunno if I can create a poll for that. In the meantime, it would be nice to have your opinion in that thread

On 7 Wonders, there is 1 season with 3 players followed by 1 season with 4 players so alterning rules between season is possible.
The same principle could be applied to Tarot too so we could have 1 season with 4 players that alternates with 1 season with 5 players variant.

Yes indeed, I was thinking of that kind of organization indeed. Only the admins can change that, so I thought it was a good idea to see if some players would be interested for some competitive game in 5p.
You for instance, would you be interested?

I would be interested in but it doesn't really matter what my opinion is compared to the whole set of players.
If 64% of the games are indeed played on 5 players configuration then it is fair to assume that many players would be interested in an arena variant with 5 players instead of the official 4 players game.

Originally, modern French Tarot was actually a game for 3! (It evolved from the older 4-player "Tarot d'appelle" where dealer always got the talon).

For my part, I prefer to play at 5 or 3.

Le tarot à 5 joueurs est plus fun, je soutiens la proposition d'alterner le nombre de joueurs en arène suivant la saison.
