In between of match i cant see my power cards

I'm not sure if this is a bug or there's something I'm missing. I played a 2 player game of El Grande. The cards text appeared on my computer in a foreign language to me (looks like German). My opponent said that they appeared in English on his screen. When I hover over the cards I can see the pop-up description text in English.
