Can you CHOOSE your partner in Spades?

Which of these applies please?

A - when setting up a table to play, is it possible to deliberately choose which of the other three will become your partner?
B - no : players are allocated to partnerships randomly

If A is the case, the implications for the game's overall qualities and its impact upon players on BGA who are not playing in a regularly-partnered fashion are immense.

I know this is an old post, but I really need to know if option A is possibile.
Many card games for example are played with a partner and in some tournment you sign in with your partner and normally you will play only with him as partner.

Thank you

I only know one way to do this: By setting the pairing order carefully in the game options. The default is random, but the other options are 1&2 vs 3&4, and 1&3 vs 2&4.
