How are ELO Points determined?

Post by JPreto »

From the games I have played so far the ELO points attributed are not consistent, or I couldn´t understand the rule.

In other cooperative games, ELO points are the same for both players, depending on points achieved (like Hanabi) or per game (like Bandido) but in this game it seems that it is related not to score.
Examples:

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=125555165 (scored 10 points)

P1 (44) +21 ELO
P2 (55) +15 ELO

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=125853508 (scored 8 points)

P1 (52) + 8 ELO
P2 (122) +2 ELO

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=125862864 (scored 12 points)

P1 (80) +20 ELO
P2 (132) +10 ELO

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=125050886 (scored 6 points)

P1 (256) -3 ELO
P2 (26) +0 ELO

In this last game, we win but have negative or null ELO... strange!?!??!

Can someone explain this?

These are co-op games, ELO doesn't really mean anything.

ELO is in no way related to your score, only your final positional in relation to the other players.

RicardoRix, these games are all in coopérations.

JPreto, it's because of K-Factor. Your gain or loss is multiplied by a value between 20 and (70?) depending of how many games you played.
You can put your mouse on the elo gain or loss to know that K-Factor.

Look at this game:

https://boardgamearena.com/6/yokai?table=126947404

My K-factor is 155
My opp's K-factor is 20

11 points in the game

+5 elo each

I really don´t understand the math behind it.
