Negative clock and 1v1 games

Hi, I have played 3minutes ago very strange game with an "expert" player Cluedoardo (647 rate) in civilization (table=127610221).
In last tour (last move) he saw, that he has no chance to win and then decided to 'propose left a game without results'.
As I had negative clock (in one tour my move took 19seconds more than standard limit) so I had no decision, game automatically decided, that I agree...

Game isn't recorded unfortunately (due to no results from this game), but from link I hope you will be able to see it (https://boardgamearena.com/4/throughthe ... =127610221).

Why such feature was implemented, that player has no decision?
Do you think, that it is fair?

Do you think, that this player played with fair play rules?
Really do we have such experts in this game?

it's boarderline, but along the rules. Don't go over the time, problem solved.

Wouldn't they also have an option to kick you from the game for going over? This is the kinder way of ending a game someone has gone over time for, the solution is to stay within the allotted time.

Guys, it was 19second late during whole game. In civilization world it is easy to be overtime, very often players are waiting more than 5 minutes for someone.

But ok, I understand that for most of you it is quite ok, then I should use same solutions.

Thanks for discussion.

Where is the line drawn? "I was only 1 second over." "I was only 19 seconds over." "I was only 30 seconds over." "I was only 1 minute over on an hour-long game." "It was less than 5 minutes."

"What do you mean that's a penalty kick? He was only half a meter inside the area when I fouled him?"
"My card got declined for $25.35? But I know I have $25.03 in the account!"
"I've got 9 points in Catan, isn't that close enough to the 10 the rules say are needed to win?"

Games have rules. One of the rules on this site is that you will play within the allotted time. Not close to the allotted time, but within it. It doesn't matter by how much the rule was broken; the rule was broken.

Another way to use time is to make a person overtime automatiquely loss.

Since bga don't do that, that cause other problems like this one :p

(I don't said it's a bad thing, I like it)

Hi guys,

How about keeping the rule, just improving it a bit - you can kick someone out only during an overtime, not after you accepted the fact and kept playing? That would avoid cases where the overtime player is kicked out after some time when the opponent sees it's loosing the game.
A following improvement could be that after 3 cases of overtime during one game, you can kick someone out anytime. That would prevent situations where someone is notoriously overtime.
