Board Game Arena

I guess with the large number of people playing the game, they were missing a trick with not making hanabi premium, but talk about moving the goal posts! Together with the recent changes to the game, I now have a way to kick my hanabi habit... so long boardgame arena.... hanabi was all I really played.

Before anyone says that the site is really cheap, just pay, I hadn't needed to until now and I was trying to kick the habit, so they've done me a sort of favour.

How do others feel about this?

its really bad we cant wait for not a good player to set a table to join and not all good hanabi players can buy membership so i think its not going to get players to buy membership but to just go and play on .live thats what will happen actully and right now cause of the hanabi update many of my friends moved to there already and hanabi is a game that you need to be able to creat a table really you cant just join any table

As always, that's up to the publisher to decide whether the adaptation here is premium or not, so if you don't like it, well, say that to the publisher and not here.

Oh well. I am already paying but I don't like this overall. Less players to play with. Those who didn't pay were often better.

At best, they should have made the new expansions premium and let anything up to multicolor stay free.

Honestly they did Hanabi so dirty. They changed the interface which NOBODY asked for and it killed functionality on initial release, and although it's fine functionally now, it's just not an improvement and a waste of development time. In the meantime it alienated people. I much prefer the playstyle and community on BGA to the other site, but lets not kid ourselves... the other sites interface isn't even in the same universe. It did it so so much better. Especially the replay and hypothetical portion. So, if you're going to pour time into a revamp why not steal some of these quality pieces. Why continue to be bad.... and then just when the user interface alienated userbase they then make it premium. I have always paid for BGA because 1) I think they deserve the support, and 2) the money is worth it for not delaying game starts. The issue is that it kills player base. I already only think there are maybe 30 people that are worth playing with at all, and maybe 10 who I actually enjoy playing with.

It isn't bga's fault, the same publisher? for Hanabi is also responsible for Jaipur, and Jaipur got removed from another popular free boardgaming site, it wasn't removed from here, but it got turned premium instead. We should be glad we have to place to play these games for free, instead of complaining about every little thing.

Is there anywhere official statement about moving Hanabi to Premium games?
If there is not then I do assume it is somehow bug. Seriously. This is a quite a big change, too big to pass unnoticed/uncommented.

Yes, on the group players that anyone who at least play the game once is automatically added.
If you go see on your wall, you'll see the message.

You really seems to not understand how this works : the publisher grant the license under some conditions. Matching the current edition is a common condition, so probably they asked BGA to adapt to new assets. And again, that's the publisher call to make a game premium, so if you want to be upset, fine, but go on the publisher FB to rant.

I almost exclusively play Hanabi and I have not seen any news about its updates on the News page.

Also, where is the publisher web page for complaints?
