Board Game Arena

I only recently reached an ELO 100 in Kalah, but always when I play Arena Mode I get matched with the Top player ranked Nr. 1

Even when I limit the tables to "Only players on my level".

I don't mind competing with the best every now and then, but if it's always the case and never someone around my rank thats a bit odd.

Restrictions do not work in the Arena. Perhaps a beginner doesn't need to play in the Arena.

Then it was just coincidence the setting worked in other Arena Games?

Well, thats what different leagues should be for: Beginners play against beginners and masters against masters

It's the same in other sports...

Restrictions do work, however matchmaking system might auto-create tables with lower restrictions in some games if the system fails to find an opponent of appropriate rating for a long time due to small playerbase.
If you think such a feature be removed you can post a suggestion report or collect some upvotes/opinions from discussion forum.

The idea of the Arena - not to know the opponent, to identify the strongest - does not imply an easy life for a beginner. Why not a beginner to play a simple game?

Do you think a strong player enjoys playing with newbies?

Depends in the player, but it's really not ideal.

Therefore the matchmaking should only match players of equal Level/League IMHO.

Whats your opinion?

I think nothing can be done, too few players. Beginners are better off playing a simple game rather than the Arena.
