Board Game Arena

I see two cards in top row, and four cards in bottom row. I can select one card, but not two. I can't seem to satisfy the game in order to get two cards chosen for the battle. Probably user error, not sure how to proceed?

I was in this situation yesterday. I found that the way to proceed is to click one card, click the enemy card it is played against, click second card, click second enemy card.
