Hello everyone and happy new year!

In a recent discussion about Hanabi becoming premium, I was apparently blocked by some user, probably unhappy with my contributions. I have of course no problem with that, everyone have their opinions and rights to block other users from their news feeds.

However, now I cannot contribute again to this topic as I have the following (French) message when posting:

Désolé mais au moins un joueur concerné par cette nouvelle vous a bloqué. Si cette personne vous a insulté/agressé, merci de faire un signalement aux modérateurs pour que nous puissions prendre les mesures nécessaires.

I would totally agree being muted by a moderator if need be (with due notification), but my understanding is that with this, any user can discretionary forbid any other user to post on a given topic. It does not feel right. Are they any plans to make this evolve?

No one has blocked you. Someone who was posting gave you red thumb.

In fact you can give everyone red thumbs and no one will ever be able to reply again to that topic.

This is just silly. Not wanting to play games with you is one thing but being able to block you from participating in the forum is too much. If I disagree with someone on this forum, should I red thumb them before they do it to me? Madness.

I think the OP is talking about some post in a certain group, which he/she either created and a player commenting red thumbed him/her, or a post in which the OP commented, followed by a comment of the person who red-thumbed him/her, so no more further comments possible for the red-thumbed person, because of the newly acquired Red Thumb.

The other situation where this happens is in the game comments... in your game history on your profile, you have all games, with "add a comment" option, under. If anyone from that game red-thumbed you, you wouldn't be able to comment in that game (before, this thing was still possible, don't know about the first group situation; for a while now, BGA made this commenting thing impossible if red thumbed, so red thumbs are doing more harm now).

Exactly, the issue was about comments in a group news (in that case, hanabi)

Actually, red thumb is effectively blocking someone, moreover this is what is said in the error message I quoted.

And funny enough, in that very topic, the person who gave me a red thumb was you (and Ze Monstah as well).

Yes. xxerox didn't get that you used block and RT as synonyms, i would assume.

At this right moment, I have no idea what the Hanabi post was about, and what you wrote, and why some people (including me), red thumbed you, especially since we never played any games together.

But i think we should be optimistic, regardless of the RTs, and see the glass half full: at least on the forum, the red thumbs have no comment-blocking power

Also... I didn't participate in that Hanabi post, or any other Hanabi posts, ever...

Of course you can. You just have to set "personal reason" as reason, so it will have no effect on that player's reputation (karma). The only red thumbs you can give someone with a PARTICULAR REASON, are after a discussion in PM, and of course, after a recent game.
