Is there a recommendation for games that can be played with large number of people but two teams? A good group game that comes to mind is codenames. Does BGA have something comparible that might be fun for a large group?

Saboteur copes well with larger player counts and has some players working in different groups to the others, but it's not so well defined in terms of specific teams if that is what you're looking for.

Not Alone is a 1 vs many game for up to 7 players so not exactly teams, but maybe worth a look

Consider the possibility of taking a two-player game and splitting up into two teams to play it by committee.

There's a great thread in the Play-By-Forum section of the RaceForTheGalaxy forums over at Board Game Geek where the RFTG designer joined forces with a handful of other players to play against an expert. At every decision point, each team member would submit their choice and reasoning and then there would be a vote about which action to take. Then a move would be submitted in an actual game taking place here at BGA. The expert was also recording his deliberations and after the game you could see the thought processes by both sides. It was a great read.
