Real time hard to play.

I am a newby.
I find fairly difficult to play real time.
I am using Safari, I have monitored it keeps some memory and cpu busy but it doesn't seem to saturate.
Ping is at 10 /20 ms level.
Despite this specially toward the end I tend to got stuck waiting and I run out of time with 6/7 players (4/5 is better, still a bit painful...)
Am I missing something? Some specific feature to pay attention?
